AGLAIA Project Selected for the Prestigious Heritage in Motion Awards 2026
We are thrilled to share some incredible news. Our project, “AGLAIA – ARIADNE Glossary in LIS and IS for Archaeology,” has been named a finalist for the Heritage in Motion Awards 2026!
Selected alongside outstanding initiatives from 19 countries, AGLAIA stands out as an innovative step forward in making archaeological science and cultural heritage accessible to all. The project provides an specialized dictionary bridging Italian Sign Language (LIS) and International Sign (IS) with archaeological terminology, ensuring equal access to research and heritage knowledge.
For AGLAIA, this recognition brings international visibility to a resource developed within ATRIUM and acknowledges the value of accessibility as an integral part of cultural heritage communication. It also highlights the collaboration between archaeological and linguistic expertise, accessibility professionals and the Deaf community that shaped the glossary. Knowing that this passion and hard work resonated with an international panel of judges makes us immensely proud.
The selection is also a meaningful recognition of ATRIUM itself: the project provided a fertile, collaborative environment in which AGLAIA could take shape, bringing together different expertise and enabling an innovative resource for more inclusive engagement with archaeological heritage.
What’s Next?
The final stage of the competition takes place on September 29 and 30, 2026, in Bled, Slovenia, where representatives from the project will present AGLAIA alongside the world’s most creative digital heritage projects.
We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire project team, our partners, and the communities whose expertise made AGLAIA possible.
AGLAIA is developed in collaboration with the ARIADNE Research Infrastructure, the ATRIUM Project (Advancing Frontier Research in the Arts & Humanities), and Prisma Cultura.
